LA Knight Wins First WWE Title At SummerSlam

LA Knight WWE

LA Knight and Logan Paul have been embroiled in a war of words for months now and they finally got their hands on each other with the WWE US Title on the line at SummerSlam.

Knight invaded Paul’s home recently, enjoying some time in Logan Paul’s pool as he sent a strong message to the social media star. LA Knight earned a win over Paul – albeit with a handful of tights – in a triple threat match to qualify for the men’s Money In The Bank.

On SmackDown in Worcester, LA Knight issued a challenge to Logan Paul for his US Title at SummerSlam on August 3rd. Knight came armed with a signed contract for the match from SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis and added his own name to the paperwork.

On the 19th of July edition of SmackDown, Logan Paul appeared on the show and ended up in a very heated confrontation with LA Knight. Paul seemed unwilling to grant Knight his title shot as he had several times before and as things got personal he referred to his WWE rival as “Shaun” – Knight’s real name.

Ultimately, it was LA Knight mentioning Logan’s brother Jake having the “the balls” to face Mike Tyson but Logan not having the same fortitude to face him that sent Paul over the edge and got him to sign the contract to make the SummerSlam match official.

Prior to SummerSlam, Logan Paul became embroiled in a transphobic row over Olympic boxing as he continues to court controversy with whatever he does.

New WWE US Champion? YEAH!

At SummerSlam, Logan Paul proved to be possibly the least popular hometown hero in wrestling history as he was booed to the ring in Cleveland where he was accompanied by Cleveland rap star MGK.

Knight and Paul brawled before the match even officially got underway with LA Knight dropping Paul with a neckbreaker on the announce table. The match proved to be a hard-fought contest with Knight surviving a wicked right hand from the champion. Paul was given brass knucks from MGK but even that couldn’t even keep LA Knight down as he nailed Paul with his BFT to capture his first official championship in WWE and end the reign of terror of Logan Paul.
