Kurt Angle Calls Kenny Omega “The Most Talented Superstar That Never Went To WWE”
WWE Hall Of Famer Kurt Angle believes that Kenny Omega is “one of the greatest workers in the business today” and made comparisons between him and Rey Mysterio.
Kenny Omega recently lost the AEW World Championship to ‘Hangman’ Adam Page in an instant classic main event at AEW Full Gear. On the following episode of Dynamite, he told the Young Bucks that he was going to step away for a time.
It has since been reported that Omega will take time away to undergo shoulder surgery and heal other injuries he has been working with for some time.
The ‘Best Bout Machine’ recently underwent chiropractic adjustment from Dr. Beau Hightower. During the process, he spoke on various topics, including his influences, one of whom was multi-time WWE Champion Kurt Angle.
“I appreciate the real athleticism that goes into what he does without sacrificing that entertainment aspect. He was willing to do whatever it took to make a crowd happy, to make people laugh, make people cry, but his capabilities in the ring were second to none.”
Speaking on an episode of The Kurt Angle Show (available on AdFreeShows.com) Angle responded to the praise, and giving Omega some of his own.
“That means a lot to me, what Kenny said. To be in that position, to be able to have someone line Kenny Omega look up to me. That’s a true honor because the kid is incredible. What he has been able to do the past ten years in professional wrestling, over in Japan, here in the United States. He was the biggest star and the most talented superstar that never went to WWE.”
Kurt Angle went on to say he sees Kenny Omega as being “every bit as talented as Rey Mysterio.”
“And he will go down in history as that if he never did go to WWE. I mean, his success, what he has had in Japan, and in AEW, phenomenal. I haven’t seen a talent like him in a long time. I would say that he is every bit as talented as Rey Mysterio. And he belongs in that upper echelon of talents; one of the greatest workers in the business today.”
