Kevin Owens Wasn’t Surprised By Ex-WWE Star’s Criticism
Kevin Owens has hit back at criticism from Matt Riddle.
Former WWE United States Champion Riddle recently named Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn as his most difficult opponents to deal with outside of the ring, claiming that the pair would not allow him to put his opinions across when piecing together a bout.
The 39 year-old spent five years with WWE, most memorably as a member of RK-Bro alongside Randy Orton, before being released in September 2023 amidst investigations into an unsavoury incident at New York’s JFK Airport.
Current WWE Superstar Kevin Owens has since fired back at his former colleague following the revelation, pointing out the former UFC fighters’ own failings before noting he was not surprised at Riddle’s negative words.
Speaking during a recent appearance on ‘My Mom’s Basement‘, Owens defended the methods he and Sami Zayn use to prepare for a bout before slamming Riddle for wasting opportunities handed to him because of attitude issues:
“It didn’t take me by surprise. I did see it. It’s funny because coming from him, I have nothing against him at all.
He’s a guy who had really amazing opportunities handed to him like being Randy’s tag team partner for so long and basically getting to ride the coattails of a legend, and he managed to screw it all up. Not because of his abilities, because he’s very talented and very athletic, but because of his own attitude and poor choices.
For him to say we’re hard to work with or whatever, he couldn’t get a word in, there is a pretty good reason for that. You look at his track record and you look at our track record, that speaks for itself. If that’s how he felt, it’s fine.
I can’t say he’s wrong when he said it was hard to get a word in. It probably was because we probably didn’t let him get a word in too much because we’ve been around him and we work a certain way and it works.”
Kevin Owens To Miss WrestleMania 41 Due To Injury
Kevin Owens will miss WrestleMania 41 after revealing that a nagging neck injury will require urgent surgery.
The Canadian star was set to battle Randy Orton at WWE’s top Premium Live Event in Las Vegas on 19th/20th April, but will now spend an unspecified amount of time out of action whilst he deals with the issue.
