Kenny Omega A Day Or 2 From Dying Before AEW Return

Kenny Omega

Kenny Omega was finally back in action at AEW/NJPW Wrestle Dynasty but now the real seriousness of his long illness has come to light.

Kenny Omega finally returned to the ring after more than a year out at Wrestle Dynasty where he battled NJPW star Gabe Kidd. Omega turned in a performance worthy of his moniker of ‘The Best Bout Machine’ as he picked up a hard-fought win.

Omega’s return proved all the more remarkable as he had suffered from diverticulitis leading to major doubts about his in-ring career and his long-term health.

Kenny Omega Close To Death

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that Kenny Omega might well be lucky to be alive after his ordeal:

[Omega] was really phenomenal in that match. He may have been a day or two from dying, that’s how bad it was. Then he had surgeries, he had diverticulitis, he had two feet of his intestine removed I think it was and came back, looked in great shape, incredible match.

Kenny Omega wasn’t the only AEW star to win big at Wrestle Dynasty as his old partners in The Elite, The Young Bucks captured the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championship.
