Kazuchika Okada Comments On Possibility Of Wrestling World Cup

Kazuchika Okada

Kazuchika Okada is ready to challenge WWE and AEW to join forces with New Japan and create a professional wrestling World Cup.

After becoming the first ever Two-Time IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, Kazuchika Okada announced he wants to speak with Triple H and Tony Khan to ensure the competition takes place.

Following on from his title win at Wrestle Kingdom 17, an event which saw AEW’s Kenny Omega and FTR, along with WWE’s Karl Anderson compete on the same card, Okada feels now is the time for the biggest promotions to work together as he told Tokyo Sports:

“It would be interesting to have a wrestling World Cup, it would be fun to have a big event on a global scale. We could have a tag team of Okada and Nakamura or Naito to fight for their country. If necessary I will go see Tony Khan and Triple H.”

However, the challenge of persuading the bosses of multiple promotions to sign up is not the only thing on Okada’s mind right now.

The Five Time IWGP Heavyweight Champion is gearing up to face Kaito Kiyomiya after a brawl took place between the pair during night two of Wrestle Kingdom 17.

Okada was inducted into the Wrestling Observer Hall of Fame in 2021 and has received multiple Pro Wrestling Illustrated Awards including one for feud of the year with Kenny Omega in 2017.
