Kazuchika Okada Vacates NJPW Title

Kazuchika Okada

Kazuchika Okada is on his way out of NJPW and has vacated his final title in the company.

Kazuchika Okada rocked the wrestling world when he revealed he was leaving NJPW. Okada’s contract with the Japanese promotion ends on January 31st leaving the star to sign elsewhere with his most likely destinations being WWE or AEW.

Reports suggested AEW was the frontrunner to sign Kazuchika Okada and his history with the company can’t be ignored. Okada has competed in an AEW ring as recently as October 2023 and featured on both Forbidden Door shows. However, one report suggested Okada was on his way to WWE and could start in NXT but this has been disputed.

Kazuchika Okada Says Goodbye To Korakuen Hall

Okada had his final match in the iconic Korakuen Hall for the foreseeable future as he teamed with Hiroshi Tanahashi and Tomohiro Ishii to defend the NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Championships against TMDK’s Kosei Fujita, Mikey Nicholls, and Shane Haste.

Kazuchika Okada picked up the win for his team with a Rainmaker on Fujita but the big news came after the match. With one foot out of the NJPW door, Okada revealed he was vacating the title as he thanked his partners. It remains to be seen if Tanahashi and Ishii will be able to find a new partner to take Okada’s place.

The Rainmaker still has some NJPW dates to complete in February and he is set to take on Hiroshi Tanahashi for what could be the last time on February 11th at The New Beginning in Osaka.
