Jon Moxley “Was In A Bad Place” Before Rehab

Jon Moxley

AEW World Champion Jon Moxley has spoken candidly about his state of mind before he entered rehab in late 2021, and admits he was “all f**ked up.”

In October 2021, Jon Moxley was on his way to the semi-finals of an AEW World Title Eliminator tournament after he defeated Dark Order’s 10 on Dynamite. But real life came knocking for Moxley and it was announced by AEW CEO Tony Khan that the star was entering rehab for issues relating to alcohol abuse.

Speaking to Sports Illustrated, Jon Moxley has reflected on that time in his life and says among other issues, he was sick of feeling like he was always leaving his family:

“A year ago, I wasn’t in the same head space. I was all f—ed up. I hated traveling. I was living in Vegas, felt like I was always in an airport, flying coast to coast, and I was sick of leaving my family. I thought about freelancing when my deal was up. Not that I would leave AEW, but I didn’t want to be there every week. I was in a bad place.”

“Then I went to rehab and all that, and now I’m in a totally different headspace. We’re living in Cincinnati, too, which is great. I look forward to going to TV every week. I get to see my friends in the Blackpool Combat Club. I’m not f—ed up. I have a clean headspace. My life is completely different than it was a year ago, and all for the better.”

AEW is now a family affair for Jon Moxley after his wife and former WWE announcer Renee Paquette made her debut for the company in her hometown of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Jon Moxley will put his AEW World Championship on the line in a huge night of action on Dynamite in his hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio against former champion Hangman Adam Page.
