Update On Johnny Gargano & Kyle O’Reilly Potentially Leaving WWE
Following NXT WarGames, it has been reported that Kyle O’Reilly and Johnny Gargano are expected to leave WWE.
Since NXT was rebranded as NXT 2.0 back in September, there has been a lot of upheaval in the formerly black and gold brand. in the last few months, former Undisputed Era members Adam Cole and Bobby Fish have left WWE to join AEW.
While former NXT Champion Cole left following the expiration of his contract, Fish was one of the many WWE Superstars released from the company in 2021 due to budget cuts.
At NXT WarGames Kyle O’Reilly and Johnny Gargano were both in action, and it has been reported that Gargano signed a one-week extension to his deal so that he could be part of the event.
Both men suffered losses on the show, with O’Reilly and Von Wagner falling short of capturing the NXT Tag Team Championship from Imperium and Gargano’s ‘Team Black and Gold’ being unable to overcome the fresh recruits of Team 2.0 in WarGames.
Fightful Select has now reported that people within WWE are working under the assumption that neither Johnny Gargano nor Kyle O’Reilly will still be with the company after this week. Both are said to have been offered multi-year deals and were even brought to SmackDown as part of WWE’s attempts to retain them.
Wrestlers within the company are reported to have held back on saying their farewells to the two men as they are both expected at Tuesday’s edition of NXT 2.0. However, the belief within the company is reported to be that both contracts will lapse and at least one of the two is likely to leave WWE completely.
