John Cena’s Final Opponent Confirmed On WWE SmackDown

John Cena WWE cant see me

WWE presented a huge night of Friday Night SmackDown to its fans as it continued the build towards next weekend’s Saturday Night’s Main Event. It is set to be one of the most important shows of the year for the promotion.

Not only will the event feature John Cena’s final match in WWE, but it will also see stars from NXT compete against main roster superstars, with Cody Rhodes set to wrestle the NXT Champion on the show.

One of the questions on many fans’ minds for the last few weeks has been regarding Cena’s final WWE opponent. All those questions were put to rest tonight as LA Knight and Gunther wrestled each other in the finals of the ‘Last Time is Now’ tournament.

Gunther to face John Cena at WWE’s Saturday Night’s Main Event

Both Gunther and LA Knight reached the finals after facing some of the toughest opponents in the previous rounds. Gunther overcame younger stars like Je’Von Evans, Carmelo Hayes, and Solo Sikoa, while LA Knight wrestled two mystery opponents in Zack Ryder, The Miz and defeated Jey Uso in the semi-finals.

The two finalists gave it their all for the spot to face Cena and wrestled an extremely hard-hitting match. It was difficult to predict the winner as the momentum kept changing hands throughout the match, and the fans were treated to multiple near-falls from both wrestlers.

LA Knight showed incredible resilience against the Ring General as he kicked out of a double splash from Gunther and then kicked out of his trademark powerbomb. It seemed like Knight had just stolen the win from Gunther as he hit a surprise BFT on him, but the pin was too close to the ropes, and Gunther put his leg on the bottom rope just in time.

The Ring General ultimately managed to get the win after targeting Knight’s neck. He put him in a sleeper hold on multiple occasions and delivered numerous elbow strikes to his injured neck. It proved to be an attack one too many for Knight as Gunther tugged on Knight’s neck for way too long, forcing the Megastar to tap out, handing Gunther the win.
