John Cena is nearing the final chapter of his legendary WWE career, and fans might see him chase a title he’s surprisingly never won: the Intercontinental Championship.

Reports suggest WWE is seriously considering this angle, with Cena possibly defeating Mysterio to capture the Intercontinental Title and defend it in his last match. This would give Cena the “Grand Slam” status he’s technically missing and provide a meaningful storyline as he steps away from active competition.

Speaking on the Notsam Wrestling podcast, Sam Roberts envisioned Cena making it a point to win that title before he retires. The angle could see Cena challenge Dominik Mysterio for the Intercontinental Championship, potentially at an event like Survivor Series.

Robert added that Cena’s connection to the Mysterio family, having shared memorable moments with Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero, adds emotional weight to the match.

I think John Cena should say straight up, there is one title that I haven’t gotten the whole time in my WWE career. I have never been the Intercontinental Champion. And I want to be able to say that I’ve done it. And I don’t know what that’s going to mean. I don’t know where it’s going to go, but that’s a goal that I have.
