John Cena On His WWE Status When SAG-AFTRA Strike Ends
John Cena has commented on what will happen to his current WWE run when the current actor’s strike comes to an end.
The SAG-AFTRA strike started on July 13 due to actors wanting more money for their work. At the time, there was also a writer’s strike that was recently resolved and they have gone back to work.
There has been optimism recently regarding the SAG-AFTRA strike ending soon although nothing has been made official.
It relates to WWE because John Cena has been regularly appearing on Smackdown on Friday nights since September 1. Cena has been advertised for Smackdown regularly through September and October. It’s also likely that Cena will appear at WWE Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia on November 4th as well.
At WWE Fastlane in Indianapolis, John Cena teamed with LA Knight to beat The Bloodline’s Jimmy Uso & Solo Sikoa. Knight got the win for his team while Cena picked up his first WWE PLE/PPV victory in over five years.
John Cena will be leaving WWE when the actor’s strike ends
At the post-WWE Fastlane press conference, John Cena was asked if his current WWE run would end whenever the actor’s strike ends. Cena admitted that when the actor’s strike ends, he has to go back to working on a project that he was doing. He also noted that the liability insurance makes it tough be in WWE and acting in movies/television at the same time.
“I’ve made it clear that you can’t do both because of the liability insurance. If I were to try and juggle both, that’s very selfish because I would put a whole lot of people in the movie business out of work if something were to happen to me. Yes, I stopped a project in the middle of it — I can’t even talk about the project because of the strike, but we’re in the middle of it. As soon as we get back to work, we go back to work. I don’t control any of that.”
“I’m crossing my fingers and I hope we can find a resolve everyone is happy with. For right now, I feel this is the best way I can help. To come back home to my family.”
By “family” we know that Cena is talking about WWE. Recently, Cena spoke about how he thinks WWE right now is as good as it’s ever been.
