John Cena Will End WWE Career As Babyface Predicts Hall Of Famer
A WWE Hall of Famer who wrestled John Cena many times thinks that Cena will retire as a babyface rather than a heel.
The WWE Elimination Chamber PLE in Toronto saw John Cena do what many people thought was unthinkable: he turned heel. After 20+ years as one of the most beloved wrestlers in WWE history, Cena turned his back on the fans.
At WrestleMania 41, John Cena got help from rapper Travis Scott to beat Cody Rhodes and win a record 17th WWE World Title. Not only that, but Cena also hit Cody with the WWE Title to win.
In his first title defense, Cena used the WWE Title to hit Randy Orton in the head and retain the title at Backlash.
During his promos on WWE television, John Cena has made it a point to say that he will retire as the “Last Real Champion,” he has told WWE that they’ll have to create a new championship because he will retire as the WWE Champion.
Cena has also said that this will be his final year as a pro wrestler, and it’s expected that his last match will be in December at some point, reportedly in the Boston area near where he grew up. That final match has got people talking about whether Cena will still be a heel or be back in a babyface role.
JBL Feels Like John Cena Will Be Cheered On His Way Out
John Bradshaw Layfield is a WWE Hall of Famer who was the man Cena beat for his first WWE Title win in 2005. JBL has also called many Cena matches as an announcer over the years.
While speaking on the Something To Wrestle podcast, JBL predicted that WWE fans would cheer Cena on his last night as a wrestler rather than Cena as a heel on his final night.
“I don’t see it. It’s one of these things where they want him to come back to be Cena so badly that when it’s all said and done, if he just comes out the next night as a baby face, the place will go nuts.
“They’re gonna thank him. They’re going to thank him for everything. You look at this scenario. If he stays a heel, let’s say his last match is on a Sunday. He comes out on Monday Night RAW the next night, and that’s the last time you’re going to see him.
When he comes out, that place is going to go crazy cheering for him because they’re going to be so thankful for what he’s done.”
As for his next match, John Cena will face his superfan R-Truth at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 24th in Tampa. The WWE Title won’t be on the line in the match.
