John Cena Vs. Gunther Could Happen Under One Condition

John Cena and Gunther could have a champion vs. champion match if only one thing happened.

The Franchise Player captured the Undisputed WWE Championship last April by defeating Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41.

Meanwhile, The Ring General became a two-time World Heavyweight Champion last Monday when he beat Jey Uso in the main event of RAW.

As Cena’s farewell tour gets closer to the finish line, many fans have expressed their desire to see him square off with Gunther in a dream match.

Speaking on his Notsam Wrestling podcast, WWE analyst Sam Roberts pointed out a scenario where that champion vs. champion clash could happen.

He recalled Gunther going head-to-head last year against then-Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia in the first-ever Crown Jewel Championship match.

The 41-year-old The Ring General could square off with Cena if WWE kept that same tradition at Crown Jewel this year in Perth, Australia, but only if the two superstars managed to remain champions until October.

Can you imagine if John Cena actually does hold on to that title up until October and now you would go into Crown Jewel: Perth with Gunther vs. Cena, champion vs. champion?

Your two champions now are Gunther vs. Cena. Everybody’s heels. Gunther’s a heel. Cena’s a heel. Seth Rollins with the briefcase is a heel.

Gunther wants a match against John Cena

Earlier this year, Gunther addressed the possibility of sharing the ring with John Cena on the latter’s farewell tour in an interview with the Daily Mail.

The Ring General expressed his desire to go head-to-head with the current Undisputed WWE Champion, revealing that he would jump on the opportunity if it presented itself.

It’s the last chance to get in the ring with him, so if that ever becomes a possibility, I would definitely take that. John Cena is obviously one of the wrestlers, you can put him onto Mount Rushmore.
