John Cena Turns Babyface In Emotional Promo On WWE SmackDown
John Cena has seemingly dropped his heel character on WWE SmackDown.
The Leader of the Cenation kicked off tonight’s episode of the blue brand. Before cutting his promo, he was interrupted by Cody Rhodes.
As the two stood face-to-face, the Undisputed WWE Champion told Rhodes that he had informed him that he was exhausted and it would be difficult for him to compete at SummerSlam. Nevertheless, he attacked him and forced him to sign the contract.
John Cena then surprisingly thanked The American Nightmare, claiming that it was the “boot in the a**” that he needed, stating that he had given up his 25-year reputation built on hard work, honesty, and respect to create shocking TV. However, the people who were supposed to be on his team left him alone, pretending to be something he is not, seemingly referencing The Rock and Travis Scott.
The 17-time world champion admitted that he wants to take the WWE Title with him when he retires, but not because he wants to ruin wrestling. He explained that he was afraid fans would forget him when he was gone.
John Cena Makes Bold Promise To Cody Rhodes Ahead of WWE SummerSlam
The 48-year-old pointed out that Cody Rhodes tried to tell him about how stupid he was acting, but he did not listen. Hence, The American Nightmare forced him to do so, like a good friend would do. He added that the former Undisputed WWE Champion forced him into a fight, stating that he would show up for war.
John Cena then seemingly confirmed his babyface turn, saying that August 1st is the day he returned to WWE. He emphasized that no matter how the Undisputed WWE Championship match ends at SummerSlam, the fans would be the winners.
Meanwhile, Cena promised Rhodes that he would go head-to-head against the greatest of all time at his best, before using his famous catchphrase, ‘If you want some, come get some!’ The Leader of the Cenation also told his SummerSlam opponent that the only platinum rapper who would “whip his a**” at the premium live event would be him.

In response, The American Nightmare asked for two beer cans to share with Cena. Ahead of their clash, the two superstars shook hands and drank beer before Cody Rhodes left the ring to John Cena, who was heavily cheered by fans.
