John Cena Takes Out Jimmy Uso On SmackDown
John Cena made his highly anticipated return to WWE on SmackDown.
John Cena was back in a WWE ring on Friday night in the first of several advertised appearances. Cena announced that he would be the host of Payback on Saturday night but it wasn’t long before he was interrupted.
Jimmy Uso came down to confront Cena, calling the sixteen-time champion of the world the same as Roman Reigns. Cena got in Jimmy’s face and told him “The wrong Uso quit” in response to Jey Uso apparently quitting WWE. Jimmy Uso faked walking away before trying to take a shot at John Cena only to get caught with an Attitude Adjustment.
What else is planned for John Cena in WWE?
Cena will also be returning to the blue brand on September 15th and will appear on seven consecutive episodes of SmackDown. Cena has been announced for the following dates:
- Friday, September 1 – Hershey, Pa. – The Giant Center
- Friday, September 15 – Denver – Ball Arena
- Friday, September 22 – Glendale, Ariz. – Desert Diamond Arena
- Friday, September 29 – Sacramento, Calif. – Golden 1 Center
- Friday, October 6 – St. Louis – Enterprise Center
- Friday, October 13 – Tulsa, Okla. – BOK Center
- Friday, October 20 – San Antonio – AT&T Center
- Friday, October 27 – Milwaukee – Fiserv Forum
With so many appearances in the books for Cena, fans have begun wondering whether the 16-time World Champion will be involved in a program upon his return or whether he’ll simply be making appearances. Despite being advertised for the blue brand, a new report indicates that a match between John Cena and top Raw star Cody Rhodes has been discussed. WRKD Wrestling reports:
“John Cena vs. Cody Rhodes has been discussed as a possibility during Cena’s return stint.”
Cody Rhodes will also be at Payback on the 2nd of September when he is a guest on The Grayson Waller Effect, so it remains to be seen if he will cross paths with Cena on that show.
