John Cena Makes Surprising Choice For Best Ever Opponents
John Cena has been in a reflective mood as his career comes to a close.
On December 13, John Cena will wrestle his final match, and he’s adamant that it’s the last time fans will see him in a WWE ring. While the strength of wrestling retirements has traditionally depended on the money available, Cena has vowed to be different.
This means that after his match with Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event and countless matches against the very best WWE has ever seen, Cena will hang up his boots.
John Cena Pays Tribute To WWE Legends
With retirement just days away, Cena was asked about the best wrestlers he’s ever shared the ring with during an appearance on the Bill Simmons on The Ringer podcast. The veteran quickly rattled off Shawm Michaels and Seth Rollins, but struggled to nail down a third.
“Shawn Michaels, Seth Rollins. It is very tough to narrow it down to a third. I’ve had incredible chemistry with people. It’s tough,”
When asked about what made Michaels so special, Cena said it was his ability to “make” others.
“He can make [a book] a champion. He would look at that and be like, ‘Okay, I need to bump around for that book, and then I’m going to superkick the book and beautifully fall on top of it.’ His performance. Seth is in the same vein. His performance. Randy (Orton) falls into this category. Guys I’ve had crazy chemistry with: AJ Styles, CM Punk, Kevin Owens, Dwayne (The Rock), Edge (Adam Copeland).
In 23 years, those are the two because they can work with anyone. I was lucky enough that I was anyone a few nights.”
Elsewhere at Saturday Night’s Main Event, Cody Rhodes will square off with NXT Champion Oba Femi, after the latter beat Ricky Saints at Deadline. Femi originally lost the title to Saints at No Mercy back in September.
