John Cena Throws Support Behind London WWE WrestleMania Bid
John Cena wants WWE to take WrestleMania to the UK.
On July 25th it was revealed that Triple H and Nick Khan had travelled to London to meet Mayor Sadiq Khan. The meeting came after Sadiq Khan went public with his desire to bring WrestleMania to London back in April.
The trio met to discuss their “shared ambition” to hold WrestleMania in London. The Mayor later described the talks as “productive,” adding it was exciting to be working with the sports entertainment giant.
The talks have come as a surprise to many after Nick Khan had previously hinted that WrestleMania wouldn’t be leaving North America.
John Cena Backs WWE UK Talks
With a UK WrestleMania now closer than ever, John Cena backed the talks on social media. After announcing he’ll be retiring in 2025, Cena said that while he won’t get to compete at a London WrestleMania, he’d make sure to be there.
The city of London, and all of the UK has supported WWE thru thick and thin. I try to minimize using the word “deserve” so I will use more appropriate terms.
I’ve said it before and stand by it. In my mind London has EARNED a chance to host WrestleMania. I won’t get to compete when it happens but I will BE THERE as a fan for sure!
At Money In The Bank 2023, also in London, John Cena made a surprise appearance to call on WWE to take WrestleMania to the UK. WWE has taken on an increasingly international feel in recent years, holding Premium Live Events in Australia, France, Wales, Scotland, and Puerto Rico with another event in Germany on the way in the coming weeks.
