A number of details have been released about John Cena’s return to the silver screen, where he will be appearing alongside Idris Elba.
It has been announced by Hollywood Reporter that both John Cena and Idris Elba have been cast to be part of the new Amazon Studios movie, Heads Of State.
The film is being described as Air Force One meets Midnight Run, and has been confirmed to be directed by Ilya Naishuller who recently shot to fame with the surprise success of the film Nobody.
Amazon Studios has held the rights to the film since October 2020, winning them during a competitive Zoom meeting. The film will also be produced via The Safran Company by Peter Safran and John Rickard.
This is yet another return to the glitz and glamour of the film industry, which John Cena has become no stranger to in recent years. Even with this new announcement he is currently still filming for his latest role in Honeymoon Friends. This is following up swiftly from his success in the likes of F9, and playing Peacemaker in The Suicide Squad.
John Cena’s last appearance in a WWE ring came back in June this year, where he addressed the crowd regarding his future with the company. Whilst he was referenced by Michael Cole on commentary earlier this month, it is looking like ‘The Doctor Of Thuganomics’ could be about to break a streak which he has been on for 19 years.
