John Cena Says WWE Star Is Underrated But Admits They’re “Not Likeable”

John Cena thinks one rival deserves more credit.

At Clash In Paris, John Cena will face Logan Paul as he continues his march towards retirement.

Cena and Paul had been on the same page as recently as Money In The Bank, where they teamed up in defeat to Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso. However, Paul sensed an opportunity after Cena turned babyface and lost the Undisputed WWE Championship back to Rhodes.

After that defeat at SummerSlam, Cena was attacked by Brock Lesnar. On the following episode of SmackDown, Cena sent a warning to Lesnar, but Paul stepped up with a challenge of his own, commenting that a match between them would be box office.

John Cena Sticks Up For Logan Paul

During an appearance at Fan Expo Chicago, Cena addressed his upcoming match with Paul. He said that while his rival is unlikeable, he’s still a credible threat in the ring.

“I’ve always been one of those guys you don’t have to like. You can hate me if you want. But I’d like to think I’ve earned people’s respect. So what I’m about to say might not be the answer you’re looking for, but hopefully you’ll respect it. Do I think Logan Paul can beat me up? Yes. I think he’s got a very good chance because he’s really good at WWE. I know a lot of people in this room don’t like him. He’s not a very likeable guy.

When a fan suggested that Paul was overrated, Cena said he disagreed, adding that in his mind, Paul is actually underrated.

“I disagree, I think he’s underrated. I think he gets a bad rap. He’s not an outsider, he belongs in WWE. I think his best days are still ahead of him, he’s got championships in his future. I can tell you I’m not looking past Logan Paul, and I’m not believing any of the hype that he’s an outsider who should be taken lightly. I’m training hard.

Cody Rhodes brought out the best in me at SummerSlam, he reignited a fire in me, and I know I’ve got a very tough opponent in Logan Paul. So do I think he can beat me up? Yes. Will he have to earn every inch? Absolutely.”

On a recent episode of his podcast, Logan Paul said he was disappointed in John Cena for dropping his heel character. Paul said Cena should have given in to who he really is rather than trying to make fans happy.

Meanwhile, Cody Rhodes has claimed that Logan Paul will eventually become a World Champion, describing him as one of the hardest-working people he’s ever met.
