John Cena details how he started his acting career

Recently, The Champ was a part of a live Q&A session at M&S Arena, where he spoke in great detail about how he started his WWE career, which led to him explaining how he ended up in the Hollywood industry.

The first movie I did was because WWE wanted to make a movie studio, and they figured if we were movie stars, we would draw more people to the events. That’s pretty logical, except it there’s a lot of things to make a movie. There’s a lot of things to make a successful movie.
And we were young producers and didn’t necessarily know all of those avenues. And I was a 26-year-old world champion. I did not want to be on some Hollywood set for 12 hours watching one thing blow up. I wanted to be in Liverpool at a live event in front of an awesome audience.

So life dealt me a cool opportunity to do movies, and I said yes, but my heart wasn’t in it. My heart was always on the canvas. It was I always wanted to be back on tour because as a young 20-something athletic kid like that was where I felt my heart and soul was, my family was.
Those movies turned out really bad because, quite frankly, I didn’t want to be there. But I had enough of them under my belt. So someone took another chance on me later on down the road and and uh cast me as Fred’s dad in the movies in the Fred movies. And Brian Robbins, the guy who kind of created the project, was like, “Hey, I think if you just parody yourself, you’ll be okay. Are you fine with making fun of yourself?” I said, “Say less.” All right. And that kind of started me finding passion, patience, and empathy for the movie process.

John Cena has always been open with his fans and answered every question to the best of his ability to ensure the fandom understands why he made some of the decisions in his life.
