John Cena Will Allegedly Drop WWE Title To Top Star In Final Match

John Cena WWE

John Cena’s championship reign will end in December at the hands of a top SmackDown star, according to former WWE writer Freddie Prinze Jr.

The Franchise Player captured the Undisputed WWE Championship last April by defeating Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41. He has since defended the title once against Randy Orton.

While the 48-year-old is now set to put the title on the line against CM Punk at Night of Champions, The American Nightmare will fight Randy Orton in the final of the King of the Ring tournament for a world title shot at SummerSlam.

Speaking on his Wrestling with Freddie podcast, Prinze Jr. predicted that Rhodes would be the one to dethrone John Cena, but not at The Biggest Party of the Summer.

Instead, the former WWE writer claimed The American Nightmare would beat The Franchise Player in the latter’s final match to win back the title.

He’ll lose that final match and Cody will save the day and save the WWE. I think that’s what they’re gonna do. [25:18 onwards]

John Cena Will Never Return To WWE Ring After Retirement

The Franchise Player’s farewell tour is set to end in mid-December. In a recent interview with Good Morning America, John Cena was asked whether he would ever return to the squared circle following his retirement.

The 48-year-old stated that there was “no way” he would wrestle again after December, claiming it would be disrespectful to fans.

[Is there a slight chance you might come back?] There is no way. I don’t want to speak in absolutes because I don’t want to close any opportunity, but I made a promise to the fans who have allowed me to be here for a quarter of a century. They allow me to sit with you today.

I wouldn’t want to disrespect them like that. This is an event that I want when people attend, it’s very exclusive. We do geosight merch, the I was there stuff is really select and limited. And the moments I share with people, I wouldn’t want to ruin that just for selfish gain.
