Jim Ross Faces Racism Accusations From WWE Legend
One WWE Hall of Famer has confirmed that he was talking about Jim Ross when he said he suffered racism during his time in the company.
Recently, D-Von Dudley caused a stir when he discussed his experience with racism during his time in WWE in a conversation with ex-WWE star Maven:
No, I didn’t experience it when we were together because of the fact that when we got together, we were in ECW, and in ECW, I did not experience it. I experienced it in WWE. I experienced it with certain top officials, though I don’t really want to say any names.
When Bubba Ray pressed him to tell him names, D-Von noted that it was someone who wore a ten-gallon hat while doing an apparent impression of Jim Ross. For those who missed those clues, Maven also dropped the biggest one of all as he exclaimed “Go Sooners!” in reference to Ross’ beloved Oklahoma Sooners. D-Von continued:
You know, I didn’t wear a ten-gallon hat or anything, but my point was, when a person comes up to you and tells you they don’t like you because of the color of your skin, you sit there thinking, ‘Wow, really? We’re in 1999 or 2000, and you’re still saying cr*p like this?’
There were certain people in that organization in that time that felt that I should not have said anything, who had the power to basically bury me if need be just because I might have stood up for what I felt was right.
D-Von Dudley Finally Names Jim Ross
Speaking on DukeLovesWrasslin, D-Von Dudley admitted that he was talking about Jim Ross, but seemed to blame Maven for giving the name away:
Did I come out and say ten-gallon hat? Yes. Did Maven let the cat out of the bag? Yes. Was it JR? Yes. I did have a problem with JR back then. I didn’t know why.
The Dudley Boyz recently retired from the ring after their One Final Table match with their old rivals, The Hardys, at TNA Bound For Glory.
