Jim Cornette Gives His Thoughts On Tyrus As NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion
Many people have had their say on Tyrus winning the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Title and now Jim Cornette has chimed in on the polarising champion.
Tyrus won the first world championship of his career at NWA’s Hard Times 3 pay-per-view when he captured the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship in a three-way match with former champion Trevor Murdoch and Matt Cardona.
The NWA star is best known among wrestling fans for portraying the dancing ‘Funkasaurus’ Brodus Clay character in WWE where he competed between 2010 and 2014.
Now speaking on his Experience podcast, Jim Cornette has given his thoughts on the FOX News personality capturing the hallowed title and doesn’t think Tyrus will go down in the pantheon of great wrestling giants:
“Now see if that had happened, before Aldis gave notice as well, no wonder. I mean, you know, the rats deserting a sinking ship if you put your belt on this f*cking guy. Right. But that was after that, [it] was in place of what they were going to do originally, wasn’t it? Because they suspended Aldis.”
“Somebody did tweet a clip of Tyrus trying, trying a knee drop off the second turnbuckle or whatever. It’s like, he jumped down and then slowly crashed, like, we were talking about bad knees. He apparently has some bad knees because he took real good care of them on this knee drop.”
“I mean, I don’t know what their issues were but apparently if Corgan, you know, made the statement that well people want to see this guy, you know, Tyrus, who’s 6 foot 8, and 350 pounds or whatever, versus this other guy that is 6 [foot] 8 you know, people want to see giants. Yes, they want to see Andre and Hogan or you know, any f*cking classic big-man confrontation.”
“Happy Humphrey wrestled Haystacks Calhoun one time. But it depends on the big men involved as to whether it should be for the world title of anybody or the big main event of a major show or whatever. It depends on who the big giants are. I don’t know if Tyrus is going to rank up there with Andre or any of the other giants in the wrestling industry.”
WWE Hall of Famer Booker T also had an interesting reaction to finding out Tyrus had captured the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship.
