One WWE Hall of Famer kept his remarks brief but couldn’t help the laughter when told that Tyrus had become the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion.
Tyrus won the first world championship of his career at NWA’s Hard Times 3 pay-per-view when he captured the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship in a three-way match with former champion Trevor Murdoch and Matt Cardona.
The NWA star is best known among wrestling fans for portraying the dancing ‘Funkasaurus’ Brodus Clay character in WWE where he competed between 2010 and 2014.
Booker T was asked about the current iteration of the NWA on his Hall of Fame podcast, to which he said:
“I don’t know a whole lot about NWA other than I see it sporadically, and I know they’ve got that studio feel of wrestling like the old Crockett promotion from back in the day.”
Booker T then asked who the promotion’ champion was, giving a very telling reaction when informed it was Tyrus:
“Okay, that tells me everything I need to know (laughs).”
Tyrus himself has not stayed quiet following the very mixed reception his title win received online with the FOX News personality hitting out at what he calls “woke hater trolls.”
