Jim Cornette ‘Off-Put’ By Current WWE Storyline

Jim Cornette

Jim Cornette has criticised a recent WWE storyline, questioning whether the veteran involved in the scenario will be able to achieve what he’s set out to do.

As had been previously reported, WWE Hall of Famer John ‘Bradshaw’ Layfield returned to WWE programming on the October 17th broadcast of Monday Night Raw, revealed as the new manager for Baron Corbin. ‘The Wrestling God’ hailed Corbin as the next God of professional wrestling prior to him besting ex-rival Dolph Ziggler.

Although the angle is seemingly being used to help elevate Corbin, who’s now reverted back to his original moniker and away from Happy Corbin, Jim Cornette has questioned whether or not JBL can help get him over. Discussing the newly-aligned duo on the latest Jim Cornette’s Drive-Thru podcast, the acclaimed wrestling personality claimed he was off-put by Corbin’s look:

“He [JBL] looks like, except for the suit, he looks like a star, he comes off like – he’s a great personality. And then he makes a big announcement, he has brought a Superstar to Raw, and here comes Baron Corbin. I’m like, ‘What in the?’ JBL is a great promo, but can even he get Baron Corbin over? But it’s not Happy Corbin anymore, they’re trying…His physical appearance to me is odd and off-putting. I don’t know how to explain it.”

This marked Baron Corbin’s return to WWE programming since being seen leaving the site of the September 2nd Friday Night SmackDown broadcast in JBL’s limo. Though he’d wrestled a handful of matches on untelevised live events, this officially marked his return to WWE programming.

It’s unknown how long JBL will be managing Corbin, though PWInsider’s initial report stated that he was scheduled for the next few Raw broadcasts at the very least.
