Jim Cornette Blasts Tony Khan Announcement Regarding CM Punk

Jim Cornette

The legendary Jim Cornette has reacted to what Tony Khan said about firing CM Punk from AEW.

Jim Cornette knows a thing or two about firing a wrestler considering his long history in the pro wrestling business as an executive and a booker. Cornette has also been a part of pro wrestling in other roles over the last 40 years including being one of the greatest wrestling managers of all-time, as well as an announcer.

Whether wrestling fans like or don’t like Jim Cornette, they know he’s always going to be a guy who gives his opinion on a subject. Currently, Cornette does lengthy podcasts covering WWE & AEW television shows as well as news about the business.

The big news of the weekend is that AEW has fired CM Punk due to multiple backstage incidents including his recent fight with Jack Perry at AEW All In London last Sunday.

On AEW Collision from Chicago on Saturday Night, AEW’s CEO & General Manager Tony Khan commented on his decision to fire CM Punk:

“Today I had to make one of the toughest decisions of my professional career, today I terminated Phil Brooks, CM Punk, for cause.

This stems from a backstage incident at AEW All In last Sunday. The incident was regrettable and it endangered people backstage.

That includes the production staff, the people who help put the show on every week. Innocent people who had nothing to do with it.

I’ve been going to wrestling shows for over thirty years. I’ve been producing them on this network for nearly four years. Never in all that time have I ever felt, until last Sunday, that my security, my safety, my life was in danger at a wrestling show. I don’t think the people I work with should feel that way and I had to make a very difficult choice today.”

Jim Cornette Calls Tony Khan’s Statement “Unadulterated Bulls**t”

The comments that Tony Khan made saying “my life was in danger” because of CM Punk’s actions have been met with criticism by some people who might think that Khan has been a bit overdramatic with his words.

On Twitter/X, Jim Cornette reacted to Khan’s statement with some interesting swear words while also having a hashtag reacting to what Tony said.

I’ve been involved in a business filled with exaggeration & hyperbole for almost 50 years, & I have NEVER heard a single line of dialogue containing a more stunning, awe-inspiring metric f**kton of unadulterated bulls**t in my life as I heard uttered tonight. #ScaredForHisLife

This is likely just the start from Cornette on this subject since he’ll probably talk about it on upcoming podcasts as well.
