Jerry Lawler Still Dealing With Effects Of Massive Stroke
Jerry Lawler is battling on.
Back in February 2023, Jerry Lawler spent time in hospital after suffering a massive stroke. The setback was the latest in a series of health problems after the veteran famously suffered a heart attack while on air in 2012, before suffering a stroke in 2018.
Following the stroke in 2023, the Memphis legend has made occasional appearances on WWE television. However, it’s been reported that Jerry Lawler is no longer under contract with WWE, but he remains signed to a Legends deal.
Back in June 2024, Lawler announced that he’d undergone knee replacement surgery, admitting he was finding things tough as he lives alone.
Jerry Lawler Dealing With Effects Of Stroke Every Day
In a new interview with Bill Apter, Lawler said he was doing well, although he’s still recovering from the knee replacement surgery. The veteran revealed that he also needs his left knee replaced, but he’s waiting before going under the knife.
“I feel great. I feel good except my knees are a little bit under the weather. I had my right knee replaced about six or seven months ago, and they said it takes about a year to get it back to normal. Then my left knee needs to be replaced, but I’m going to wait a while on that one.”
While looking back on his stroke in 2023, Lawler said he still deals with the effects every day, noting that the entire right side of his body is “damaged.”
“That’s something that’s here constantly every day. The effects of the stroke are always there. My whole right side of my body is damaged. I can’t really write too good. I can’t draw worth a darn, but I can still sign an autograph, thank goodness. But other than that, I feel fine.”
Fellow WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin is also recovering from knee replacement surgery, but despite that, he’ll still be busy during WrestleMania weekend. It’s been announced that Austin will be appearing at WWE World during the weekend, sparking speculation he could feature at WrestleMania itself.
However, he’s highly unlikely to get physical due to his rehabilitation.
