JBL Names Surprising WWE Star “Once In A Lifetime Performer”

WWE Hall Of Famer JBL Reflects On Whether The Montreal Screwjob Was Necessary

JBL was full of praise for a former WWE Champion.

After debuting in 1992 and competing all the way up until 2009, JBL enjoyed a career that straddled several eras.

The former college football star broke through in Texas before signing with WWE in 1995. He subsequently saw firsthand WCW take the initiative through the Monday Night War, the Attitude Era, the Ruthless Aggression Era, and WWE totally dominating the wrestling landscape unchallenged.

Once retired, JBL has remained around the industry working as an announcer, podcaster, and analyst.

All of that means he’s seen his fair share of wrestlers come and go.

JBL Praises WWE Star

While the history of wrestling is littered with talented stars who never reached their potential, there’s another side to that coin. Stars such as The Miz, who were never meant to be a success, but made the most of every ounce of talent they had.

On the latest episode of Something To Wrestle, JBL heaped praise on Miz for reaching the top of WWE despite having the deck stacked against him from day one. The Hall of Famer went on to describe Miz as a “one in a lifetime performer.”

“Miz, to me, I’ve never seen a guy come in and work on top with such a loaded roster and make it, I mean, it was almost a completely untenable situation that Miz had very few people.

And, I mean, like a few out of 100,000 could have made what Miz did. Miz has made a Hall of Fame career, and he did it from one of the hardest starting points you could possibly have a learning on worldwide television against an incredibly loaded roster…

Miz has built a Hall of Fame career already off of one of the hardest starts in wrestling history. He doesn’t come in trained through the territories. He comes in from a reality show and goes right on global television. That’s an almost impossible situation to make… Miz made it, and that tells you something about Miz. He’s a man. He is a once-in-a-lifetime performer.”

Meanwhile, JBL has tipped CM Punk to become the new World Heavyweight Champion ahead of Saturday Night’s Main Event. On November 1, Punk will battle Jey Uso for the vacant title after previous champion Seth Rollins underwent shoulder surgery.
