Jay White’s Future Clearer After Loser Leaves Japan Match

Jay White

The future of former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Jay White has become clearer following his Loser Leaves Japan match against Hikuleo.

Jay White has been a mainstay of New Japan Pro Wrestling ever since he returned to the promotion following his excursion in 2017 as Switchblade. White joined the Chaos faction led by Kazuchika Okada but in 2018 White and Okada’s long-time associate Gedo pulled off a stunning betrayal as they left Chaos to join Bullet Club.

White went on to become IWGP Heavyweight Champion in 2019 when he defeated Hiroshi Tanahashi at The New Beginning in Osaka and four years later, that same event could have provided another pivotal moment in Swtichblade’s career.

At New Year’s Dash, following Wrestle Kingdom 17 where Jay White lost the IWGP World Heavyweight Title to Okada, Switchblade took his frustrations out on Hikuleo, and ended up challenging the star to a Loser Leaves Japan match.

That match took place at The New Beginning in Osaka 2023 and despite White’s best efforts to win by hook or by crook, a massive chokeslam was the end as Hikuleo picked up the win, banishing Jay White from Japan.

Recent reports have suggested that WWE and AEW have both been battling to sign up Jay White but with NJPW itself focussing on its efforts in the US, it could mean White is seen spearheading those shows, where the Switchblade era ends up next is still anyone’s guess.
