Jake Roberts Recalls Being Fired On During A Wrestling Match
WWE Hall of Famer Jake Roberts has seen and done some wild things in his life and now he has recalled the time someone fired a gun at him during a match.
Jake Roberts is best known for his two spells in WWE where he made other stars’ lives a misery in the ring with his mind games, DDT, and Damien the snake. After competing at WrestleMania 8 in 1992 against The Undertaker, Roberts left WWE for the first time and went south to WCW but by the end of the year, he was gone from that company as well.
During his time in WCW, Jake Roberts tangled with current AEW star Sting on several occasions, including at Halloween Havoc when The Icon defeated Roberts in a Coal Miner’s Glove match.
Speaking with Derrick’s Reptiles, Jake Roberts recalled one memorable match with Sting in Dallas, Texas that almost saw Roberts get shot by someone in the crowd:
“Craziest one would have been in Dallas, Texas. I was wrestling Sting. A guy stood up in the ninth row, reached in his jacket. [He] pulled out a pistol and started shooting at me. He got three shots off. Missed me. That’s about as crazy as it gets. I jumped my ass out of that ring, got underneath the ring and hid.”
Jake Roberts recently expressed his view that as a wrestler in WWE, you couldn’t have any sort of friendship with Vince McMahon.
