Jade Cargill “Wouldn’t Have Got This Opportunity” Outside WWE
Jade Cargill was elated after sealing victory in her debut WrestleMania bout on Night One in Philadelphia.
The 31 year-old former AEW TBS Champion rocked the wrestling world in September 2023 after ending her three-year association with Tony Khan’s organisation in favour of a move to WWE.
Despite appearances on Raw, SmackDown and NXT, the company has been patient with their introduction of Cargill to the main roster audiences, with her stand out appearance to date coming during the 2024 Women’s Royal Rumble match.
Cargill appeared a surprise entrant in the match, entering at number 28 and made an immediate impact by eliminating Nia Jax, Naomi and Becky Lynch. Ultimately, Cargill would finish in third place after being dumped out by the returning Liv Morgan.
It wasn’t until the 22nd March edition of SmackDown that the blue brand was announced as Cargill’s destination, with General Manager Nick Aldis announcing that the Florida native would join forces with Naomi and Bianca Belair to battle the Damage CTRL trio of Asuka, Kairi Sane and Dakota Kai in a huge six-woman tag team bout at WrestleMania 40.
Jade Cargill Reflects On WrestleMania Debut
It was to be a victorious WrestleMania debut for Cargill, who pinned Dakota Kai to score the win for her team after an entertaining 8-minute encounter.
Cargill reflected on her performance during the WrestleMania XL Saturday Post-Show Press Conference, sharing her delight whist noting that the opportunity to perform on such a big stage was only possible due to her signing with WWE:
“First and foremost, I would have never thought that I would have braced the stage with these two phenomenal women.
This [Bianca] is Miss WrestleMania, undefeated. Then we have miss veteran [Naomi] over here that knows exactly what to do every time. I mean, look at her in the ring. She knows what to do at every given moment.
I would have never got this opportunity anywhere else. I’m very thankful for what I got. I would have never gotten a better start. This is my first WrestleMania. It’s only gonna go up from here.”
