The once dominant NXT group of Toxic Attraction is no more thanks to the recent actions of Jacy Jayne.
A three-woman group called Toxic Attraction was created in WWE NXT in the summer of 2021. It featured Mandy Rose, who was moved to NXT from the main roster after being part of WWE for about six years at that point. Joining Rose in the group were Jacy Jayne & Gigi Dolin, who weren’t really well known at that point to the WWE audience.
Toxic Attraction would go on to be one of the most dominant women’s groups in WWE history with Jayne & Dolin having two title reigns as the NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions totaling 227 deas. As for Rose, she went on to hold the NXT Women’s Title for 413 days until she was released by WWE last December due to having a subscription fan site that WWE didn’t like, but at least she has made a lot of money off it.
Following Rose’s WWE exit, Jacy Jayne & Gigi Dolin remained allies that earned an NXT Women’s Title match against Roxanne Perez at Vengeance Day. While Jayne & Dolin did work together during some of the match, they also didn’t function very well as a team leading to Perez retaining the NXT Women’s Title.
On the post-Vengeance Day edition of NXT that aired on February 7th, Bayley returned to NXT to host her Ding Dong Hello show in the ring with Jacy Jayne & Gigi Dolin. The set for Ding Dong Hello includes a white door in the ring. While it appeared as though Jacy and Gigi had patched things up, Jacy hit Gigi with a superkick and threw her into the door. Jacy told Dolin it was never about them, it was always about Jacy Jayne. That led to Jayne throwing Dolin into the door and Jacy kicked Dolin in the head while Dolin went down in tears. It was called a “toxic explosion” by NXT announcer Vic Joseph while Jayne stood tall.
What Jacy did had similarities to when The Rockers broke up in 1992 as Shawn Michaels (who runs NXT creatively these days) superkicked Marty Jannetty and tossed him threw the Barber Shop window since they were on the Barber Shop talk show set hosted by Brutus Beefcake. It was a very famous heel turn that propelled Michaels into superstardom.
While appearing on Busted Open Radio, Jacy Jayne talked about the attack on Dolin while noting the connection to what Michaels did over 30 years ago.
“I actually didn’t really know much going into that day, they were kind of very hush-hush about everything happening. All I really knew was that was going to be on Ding Dong Hello. So that’s a lot of pressure having Bayley come back. It was the first time she even had that show in like two years. It was also the first time it was ever in front of a live audience because that was always done during the pandemic era. So I feel like there was a lot of pressure going into that alone.”
“Then, kind of getting Shawn’s blessing to re-do some history there. That was a big deal for me. I didn’t want to mess it up. I didn’t want to screw up. I wanted to make a memory. I think everybody knew Toxic Attraction was going to explode soon, but to make it memorable, we had to go big. So we wanted it to be vicious.”
“We wanted it to be memorable. We wanted people to talk about it, not just something like ‘Oh, that was a good segment. Yeah, whatever. Now they’re by themselves.’ Like, no, we want people to remember this and be like, ‘Oh, this is a new coming for two new superstars on a solo route.'”
Following the attack from Jacy Jayne, Gigi Dolin would share an image of the bruising on her face after she was fiercely sent into the door.
