Interesting Note On FTR’s AEW Return

Dax Harwood Cash Wheeler FTR

FTR’s Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler made their huge return to AEW at Revolution as they attacked The Gunns and now a report has given an update on their shock comeback.

The Gunns defeated FTR on the 21st of December edition of AEW Dynamite in what could yet be Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler’s last match in the company. Austin and Colten Gunn then held a funeral segment on TV to commemorate the “death” of FTR before going on to later defeat The Acclaimed to win the AEW Tag Team Championship.

At Revolution Austin and Colten Gunn survived The Acclaimed, Jeff Jarrett & Jay Lethal, and Orange Cassidy & Danhausen to retain their gold but FTR had a surprise for everyone. Wheeler and Harwood took out The Gunns and stood tall with the AEW World Tag Team Championships, indicating that they were back for the belts.

Interestingly, this happened just days after The Gunns spoke openly about their “shoot” issues with FTR. The return of the popular tag team also might come as a surprise to some given that Dax Harwood has been outspoken about many of his issues in AEW and revealed that the team’s contracts with the company expire at the end of April, amid speculation about a return to WWE.

Fightful Select has reported that Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler’s return to the company was kept “very quiet” backstage with the assumption that many within the company were kept in the dark about the return as well.

A recent report from before Revolution indicated that FTR was still considered to be the team that will dethrone The Gunns for the AEW Tag Team Championship.
