An injured WWE superstar appeared on TV for the first time in 9 months.

Before John Cena’s main event match against Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event XLII, several popular personalities from different walks of life were shown attending the event.

When Cena’s music hit, he playfully interacted with the cameraman, Stu, before making his way towards the ring.

After acknowledging the crowd, he went outside to greet some of his past and present peers seated by the ringside.

These wrestlers included Eve Torres, Michelle McCool, Kurt Angle, Trish Stratus, Mark Henry, Sami Zayn, Rob Van Dam, and Elias.

Elias, who is currently signed with TNA and is recuperating from an injury, received a huge pop from the audience at the Capital One Arena.

The camera then panned to Kevin Owens, who received an even louder pop. Kevin Owens shares a storied rivalry with John Cena in WWE, when he debuted on RAW while serving as the NXT Champion.

During their interaction, Owens hit Cena with a pop-up powerbomb, leaving viewers stunned by the mishandling of the veteran.

It set up a match between the two wrestlers at the 2015 Elimination Chamber, where Owens beat Cena cleanly in his debut fight on the main roster.

Why Did Kevin Owens Disappear From WWE TV?

Before WrestleMania 41, Kevin Owens had picked up a feud with Randy Orton. Subsequently, a match was finalized between the two at the Grandest Stage of Them All.

However, on the April 4 episode of WWE SmackDown, Owens walked out wearing a Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart hoodie, only to reveal that he was injured and would be unable to compete at the PLE.

He revealed that he would be undergoing surgery due to the severity of the injury, while also claiming that he didn’t know when he would be back again.
