Injured WWE Star Announces Departure, Expresses Frustration
An injured WWE superstar has revealed that he’s gone when his contract expires in November.
Ridge Holland suffered a serious foot injury during a TNA match on September 27, and now he’s been informed that his WWE run is ending.
Writing on Instagram, Holland announced that he had been informed that WWE wouldn’t be renewing his contract when it expires in November.
“I’ve been informed that WWE will not be renewing my contract when it ends on November 14th. WWE are still going to cover my rehab from injury but my guaranteed pay will end, quite frustrating to say the least as I cannot work for another 6 months due to the aforementioned injury, with a family of 5 to support.
My career with WWE has been blighted by misfortune but I’m still thankful and grateful for the opportunity and experience. The shining light that has always kept me going is the HUGE support from a handful of special human beings. Thank you.
I’m unsure what lies ahead of me in terms of wrestling but going forward I will be working hard to heal up and in that time I will be launching my own online coaching business…..so stay tuned.”
Ridge Holland’s WWE Run Will End After 7 Years
It was in 2018 when Ridge Holland debuted in WWE on the NXT brand. He was known as a tough guy from the start, thanks to his background in rugby and his intimidating appearance.
From the fall of 2021 to the next two years, Holland was part of the Brawling Brutes group, led by Sheamus and featuring Pete Dunne (also known as Butch) as another ally within the group. When Sheamus ended up missing time due to injury, the group fizzled out.
Unfortunately for Ridge Holland, what WWE fans will remember most about his career is that he injured Big E while doing a suplex on the floor during a SmackDown match in March 2022. Big E hasn’t wrestled since then and likely never will because he broke his neck during the spot.
During his WWE run, Holland was an NXT Tag Team Champion with Andre Chase as part of a story where he was an ally of Chase U before he ultimately turned on them.
