Hulk Hogan Praises Top WWE Star
Hulk Hogan had some nice things to say about one of WWE’s biggest stars, who The Hulkster feels could thrive in any era.
The birth of Hulkamania in WWE took place 40 years ago in January 1984 when Hulk Hogan beat WWE Hall of Famer The Iron Sheik to become the WWE World Champion for the first time. Hogan appeared in a WWE video recently to commemorate the moment.
At the WWE Royal Rumble PLE in Tropicana Field, Hulk Hogan was used in the cold open in the show talking about how important it it is to win the Royal Rumble. Hogan was used for that because of the Hulkamania anniversary and because Hogan is from the Tampa/St. Petersburg, Florida area, he was an obvious choice for it. Hogan did not physically appear on camera at the Royal Rumble event.
One of the big matches at the Royal Rumble saw Roman Reigns retain the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion against Randy Orton, LA Knight and AJ Styles. It was yet another controversial win by Reigns since Solo Sikoa broke up a pin attempt by Orton. Reigns managed to get the win with a Spear on Styles.
While talking to Sports Illustrated, The Hulkster spoke about the 3.5-year WWE Title reign of the “Tribal Chief” Reigns.
“Roman’s dad, Sika, he explained the ABCs of it all to him. Watch his matches and you can tell. You can see it in the way Roman creates emotion, understands how to make the crowd mad, and how he puts people on the edge of their seat calling for that comeback. Roman Reigns learned this all old-school from his dad, but he adapted to the newer era, too. He can do it all.”
“It takes a really long time to be able to transition and pivot on a dime the way he does. That’s how he paints masterpieces you’ve never seen before. He’s working on a whole different level.”
Hulk Hogan Feels Roman Reigns Could Thrive In Any Era
As he continued, The Hulkster made it clear that he thinks Reigns would be successful in any era.
“Roman is adaptable to whoever he is wrestling. That’s important. At any moment in time, he can switch gears on you. He’s amazing, and he’d fit in any era.”
Even though he’s 70 years old and has had over 20+ back surgeries, Hulk Hogan has teased having one more match. It doesn’t appear likely, but “never say never” in pro wrestling.
