Hulk Hogan Critical Of AEW Star
Hulk Hogan has questioned the need for an AEW star to keep taking risks.
At AEW Double or Nothing, Adam Copeland put his TNT Title on the line against Malakai Black in a Barbed Wire Steel Cage match. Copeland has been at war with the House of Black for months, and the violent extravaganza seemed a perfect way to end the feud once and for all.
During the match, Copeland jumped from the top of the cage in an effort to put his rival through a table. However, the veteran landed awkwardly, almost feet first, injuring himself in the process.
It was later confirmed that Adam Copeland had broken his leg, ruling himself out of a marquee match at All In.
Hulk Hogan Questions Adam Copeland
Copeland himself has since admitted that jumping from the cage perhaps wasn’t his greatest idea given he’s now 50 years of age.
During an appearance on The Outbound Life podcast, Hulk Hogan gave his thoughts on the match and questioned why Copeland felt the need to follow through with the stunt despite already being beloved by the audience.
“I watched Edge [Copeland] jump off the cage the other night. I haven’t talked to him yet, but trained professional. Twilight of his career. Jumps off the top. Please explain that to me. He’s over. Most guys who do that, go up and do it because they are not over enough.
Edge was over. To do that, I just don’t get it. I haven’t called him yet. I was going to call him last night, but I fell asleep. I just want to know, ‘Please explain that to me. You’re over like a son of a gun. You didn’t need to do that. You didn’t need to go up there.’
If you’re going to go up there, it doesn’t mean anything, unless you do something better than Mick Foley did. Mick Foley got thrown off the top of the cage and hit the table. If you’re going to beat Mick Foley, you have to get thrown off the top of the cage with no table. I just didn’t get it. It didn’t mean anything because Edge was so over. So over. He didn’t need that.”
Following the injury, Adam Copeland was stripped of the TNT Championship with new champion Jack Perry crowned at Forbidden Door.
