Huge AEW Star Confirms He’ll Never Return To WWE
A former WWE star has confirmed they will never return to the company.
Dustin Rhodes is a 3-time Intercontinental Champion in the Stamford promotion and is signed with AEW.
He is currently out due to an injury, for which he underwent surgery. The timeline for his return to in-ring competition remains unknown.
Late last year, Rhodes revealed that he had signed a multi-year deal with AEW and wished to end his wrestling career there. It was later reported that his contract would keep him in the company for the next six years.
At All In: Texas, then-TNT Champion Adam Cole was forced to relinquish his title due to an injury.
A new four-way match was then announced, which also featured Dustin Rhodes. To everyone’s surprise, the 56-year-old won the title for the first time.
During the July 31 edition of Collision, he defended his title against Kyle Fletcher in a brutal Street Fight match.
Rhodes lost the match and the belt, thus writing him off from the storyline to undergo surgery and subsequently rehabilitate.
Dustin Rhodes To Remain At AEW
Dustin Rhodes has been active on social media during his time away from in-ring action at AEW.
The former TNT Champion has, on multiple occasions, made it clear that he has retired his WWE gimmick of Goldust. However, fans often reignite the subject, and something similar happened recently, too.
A fan pointed out that since Vince McMahon was gone from the company, could it be possible for him to return to the Stamford promotion and give fans another Goldust run.
Rhodes replied with a simple no, while also confessing he felt miserable there.
Nope. Why? So I can sit the bench and be miserable? Been under paid and under appreciated there. @AEW make me happy and don’t get me wrong, Goldust was one of the funnest characters to play there. https://t.co/9l2uXtQISd
