How Triple H Told Nick Aldis To Play WWE Role

Nick Aldis

Nick Aldis has opened up about the direction Triple H gave him when he started as SmackDown’s General Manager.

On the October 13th, 2023 edition of SmackDown, Triple H made some big changes to how WWE was run onscreen. During the show, The Game made longtime authority figure Adam Pearce the General Manager of Raw. Then, in a shock move, he introduced the new GM for the blue brand, Nick Aldis.

Now over a year into the role, Aldis has made it his own, and that has partly happened thanks to early direction from Triple H. During an appearance on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Aldis explained that WWE’s Chief Content Officer told him he would be a different authority figure than fans were used to.

“My whole thing on this was, I had to make it my own. And this was also based on some early conversations with (Triple H) about it, where it was like, he said, ‘I want this to be different. Your General Manager shtick is not gonna be the typical authority figure we’ve seen in the past.’”

Aldis went on to say he had a good idea of what The Cerebral Assassin wanted from him from the start.

“And obviously there’s been some major differences between some of the characters we’ve seen in those roles, but it wasn’t necessarily gonna be this insecure, power-hungry guy right off the bat.

“He said, ‘I want you to be more you. Like more calm and collected and all business.’ And I went, ‘I think I know what you want’.

“Obviously there’s a lot of coaching involved and stuff like that, but in the beginning, I was like, ‘I think I’ve got what you have in mind’, and we sort of went that way, and it seemed to work.”

Triple H Avoided Conversation With The Hurt Syndicate

MVP has revealed new details of how Triple H handled The Hurt Business in WWE. The star claimed he tried to talk to The Game about the group’s future, but he always avoided discussing it. Now, the faction is a force to be reckoned with in AEW, where it is known as The Hurt Syndicate.
