How Darby Allin Helped Rival Land AEW Contract
Darby Allin has been credited with having a major role in Brody King joining AEW.
Former NWA World Tag Team Champion Brody King has made quite the impact since debuting with Tony Khan’s organisation on the 12th January 2022 edition of Dynamite, joining the ‘House Of Black’ faction with whom he has gone on to lift the AEW World Trios Championship.
King was also involved in a bitter feud with Darby Allin during his first year with the company, ultimately losing to the popular 31 year-old in a brutal coffin match at AEW Dynamite: Quake By The Lake on 10th August 2022.
Despite the in-ring conflict between the pair, Brody King revealed during a recent appearance on ‘WrestleMobs‘ that former rival Allin was instrumental in securing him a deal in AEW:
“The day that Ring of Honor closed, he texted me the very next day and said ‘this is Tony Khan’s number, he’s expecting you to call him,’ and it’s like that stuff, like that is like nothing I can ever repay.
Me and Darby don’t see eye to eye in all facets of our life, so where–I think that there’s a baseline of respect, and you know maybe love there somewhere, but sometimes you’ve got to fight it out to get through the weeds.
“I think for some people, they never find that person that they just click with, and then sometimes you find them early on and I was lucky to find that me and Darby were willing to push each other to the limit no matter what and deal out as much punishment as possible.”
The ex-AEW Champion Darby Allin Was Desperate To Face
Despite having battled most of the top names AEW has had to offer during his tenure with the company, Darby Allin recently declared that one top name he wished he had faced was Mr Brodie Lee.
Allin confirmed that he had spoken to Tony Khan about battling his fellow former AEW TNT Champion but sadly the opportunity for the bout to occur never arose before Lee’s untimely passing in 2020.
