Hornswoggle Recalls Guest Host That Was Going To Give Him Power To Speak

Hornswoggle being granted the ability to speak was originally supposed to be something other than ‘a Christmas miracle’.

The Hornswoggle character was presented somewhat inconsistently over the years. He was basically a leprechaun and for the longest time the idea was that he couldn’t speak.

This was despite the fact that Hornswoggle was seen speaking in a few segments, including one in which he was seen and heard speaking while interacting with his ‘father’ Vince McMahon.

However, WWE continued to push the idea that Hornswoggle was a mute so that someone would magically grant him the ability to speak. This actually ended up happening in 2011 as he was gifted the ability to speak by Santa Claus.

But that wasn’t the original plan. In an interview with Metro, Hornswoggle explained that this magical moment was supposed to happen years earlier, when Miss Piggy and the rest of The Muppets were guest hosts on RAW.

“[It was] supposed to be the Miss Piggy thing, it was supposed to happen that day! The original pitch was when Miss Piggy hit me, I was supposed to then be able to talk.

It didn’t happen and I was bummed out but I was like, you know what? I still get to work with The Muppets on Raw, this is incredible.”
