Bombshell Heel Turn Costs The Elite At AEW Double Or Nothing
AEW ring announcer was right when he noted that “sh*ts about to hit the fan” ahead of Anarchy In The Arena as it certainly did for The Elite.
Double Or Nothing’s main event saw The Elite do battle in a wild bout with The Blackpool Combat Club to try and end what has been an increasingly violent and brutal feud but by the end of the night, there were more questions than answers.
As the name of the bout suggested both teams battled all over the arena in Las Vegas, Nevada and it wasn’t long until the blood was flowing as anything and everything was used as a weapon by both teams. High points saw Matt Jackson hit an exploding super kick on Jon Moxley before having his bare foot planted into thumbtacks.
Not long after he turned his back on former AEW World Champion Kenny Omega, Don Callis loomed ominously on commentary and sure enough, he couldn’t help but interject himself in proceedings as Omega looked to put away Wheeler Yuta. Omega turned his sights on Callis and just when it looked as if he’d get his revenge on the man he considered family, Konosuke Takeshita showed where his allegiance lay as he took out Omega with a screwdriver.
That allowed Wheeler Yuta to pick up the biggest pinfall of his career so far as he won the night for The Blackpool Combat Club. Where the feud between The Elite and the BCC goes from here remains to be seen but with Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks, and Adam Page seemingly at a one-man disadvantage again, Omega might need to put in a phone call to an old lover to help even the sides.
