Heavy Skepticism Over WWE’s Surprising AAA Claims
WWE has made a surprising claim about AAA that few in the Mexican promotion believe to be anywhere close to the truth.
At WrestleMania 41, it was announced that WWE was acquiring Mexican promotion AAA. Since then, several WWE stars have appeared on AAA shows, while Mr Iguana’s newfound popularity has propelled him to a few appearances for the sports entertainment giant as well.
The recent Triplemania show was hailed as a success, although the event did feature the crowd chanting for the recently departed Alberto Del Rio. Questions had been asked over his future, considering his standing in AAA, and it seems there are many in WWE that would welcome the controversial star back with open arms.
Nick Khan’s WWE Claim Not Believed In AAA
Fightful Select has now reported that at Triplemania, WWE president Nick Khan gave a speech to talent where he told them that they were not there to change the company, and it was still AAA. It was noted that comment was met with “heavy skepticism” from sources in the Mexican promotion but not disdain.
Several AAA sources are said to have felt that WWE has very firmly planted its flag in the company and that there was a heavy WWE influence at Triplemania.
It was reiterated that The Undertaker is expected to be a major part of AAA behind the scenes moving forward.
