Has Stephanie McMahon Officially Returned To WWE? Current Status Revealed

Stephanie McMahon

Stephanie McMahon laughed as she revealed her actual status with WWE.

Over the last 25 years, Stephanie McMahon has held many roles within WWE, both on-screen and off. The daughter of former Chairman Vince McMahon and the wife of current WWE Chief Content Officer, Paul “Triple H” Levesque, doesn’t have a specific role as a character in the company.

As a character, Stephanie was mostly a heel authority figure who went on to have matches with some of the biggest names in WWE history, like Trish Stratus, Brie Bella, Ronda Rousey, and even her father, Vince. Read all about that one at WWE No Mercy 2003, which actually took place a week before Stephanie’s wedding to Triple H.

Behind the scenes, Stephanie worked in multiple roles, including as the head of the creative team under Vince McMahon through most of the 2000s. Stephanie was also an executive in the company and was WWE Chairwoman after Vince “retired” in July 2022, until he returned in early 2023.

There have been major shows like WrestleMania in the last few years where Stephanie was used to welcome the fans, leading people to think she might have a specific role in WWE. Apparently, that’s not true.

On a recent episode of her What’s Your Story podcast with comedian Andrew Schulz, Stephanie McMahon showed a ribbon on her left wrist.

“Do you see what this is? This is my all access ribbon because I’m no longer an employee.” (Laughs)

That means Stephanie McMahon isn’t a WWE employee, even though she hosts a regular podcast for the company and has held numerous roles in the past.

John Cena Proved Stephanie McMahon Wrong

In an interview about John Cena’s WWE legacy, Stephanie McMahon admitted that she didn’t think Cena’s “hustle, loyalty and respect” type of character would work, but it obviously did. At the time, Stephanie was a key member of the WWE creative team, so she had an interesting perspective on it.

It’s a special gift that some people have, and it’s very few people have the ability to connect with the audience the way that John did. And I have to say, he started off as the Doctor of Thuganomics as a heel, but then he turned baby face, and then he was the grossest baby face of all time.

You know, hustle, loyalty, respect, just, you know, I mean. I like the heels. And I would feel like it was too much, you know? And I thought at some point, this isn’t gonna work. This isn’t gonna work. He’s too much that way. He’s too strongly that way. We need to pull him back a little bit.

But he proved me wrong on countless occasions, and he really stayed true to himself and his character and who he believed he was for so long. And I think that’s part of it because he believed so strongly that the audience believed with him.

Stephanie McMahon will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2026. When The Undertaker informed Vince’s daughter about it, she admitted she had no idea it was coming.
