Hacksaw Jim Duggan Hospitalized Due To Emergency Surgery
The legendary WWE Hall of Famer “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan was hospitalized due to an emergency surgery.
Hacksaw Jim Duggan is a 69-year-old WWE Hall of Famer who was one of the most popular wrestlers of his era. Hacksaw was always known for his positive attitude, leading the crowd in “USA” chants, the 2×4 piece of wood that he carried around everywhere and a running shoulder tackle that was devastating.
On Saturday, Hacksaw suffered a medical emergency leading to surgery according to his wife Debra.
“We want to thank everyone that came out yesterday as Jim was honored by the Glens Falls Firefighters Association and apologize to those that came after 3:30.
“Jim was taken to the hospital and admitted yesterday evening. he had emergency surgery this morning and everything went well. We will reschedule tomorrow in Utica, MI for a later time. We welcome your prayers and we will continue to provide updates.
“Thank you,
Debra”

The details of what the surgery was for were not disclosed. Obviously, it’s a very personal matter and as Debra said, they will provide updates when there is more to share.
Earlier in the day, Jim and Debra were at an event in their hometown of Glens Falls, NY where they were honored by the city’s mayor, who said it was “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan Day.

Hacksaw Jim Duggan has dealt with prostate cancer in the past
In November 2022, Duggan did an interview talking about his past issues with prostate cancer while noting he was cancer free.
“I had my prostate taken out last October and I thought hopefully that had taken care of everything, but I got another PSA test, found out that the cancer was still in me. I was very disappointed to say the least. I was really down for a little while, but had to go back in and get radiation. I did eight weeks of radiation treatment, but came out, rang the bell. I’m cancer-free, thank the Lord.”
“Thank goodness I didn’t have to do that [chemotherapy]. Chemo is so much worse than radiation. Radiation was almost like an X-ray. You hardly felt anything, you didn’t hear anything.”
“I know it’s a terrifying deal for me and my whole family when everybody hears that, but early detection can save your life. This is my second bout with very aggressive cancers and I’m here to talk about it. So, get your physical, folks.”
While Duggan never won a championship in WWE during his Hall of Fame career, he will always be remembered as the man who won the first televised Royal Rumble in 1988. The Royal Rumble event would go on to become one of the most popular matches in all of WWE.
On Sunday morning, Debra posted an update saying Jim is doing well and will be on his feet soon.
Update:
Jim is resting comfortably. He is on the mend and will be back on his feet soon. Thank you for your prayers, good wishes and messages. Hacksaw's fans are awesome!
