Gunther Not Interested In Huge Title Vs. Title Match In WWE

Gunther Ludwig Kaiser Imperium

Gunther isn’t interested in facing Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship.

Gunther has proven himself one of the most dominant forces in WWE, recently surpassing 365 days as Intercontinental Champion. The leader of Imperium won the title on June 10th, 2022, defeating Ricochet on an episode of SmackDown.

According to a recent report, WWE are considering having the star surpass the record for the longest IC Championship reign in company history. WRKD wrestling reported in early June:

“Roman Reigns isn’t the only superstar inching closer to history. We’ve learned that there are internal talks for Gunther to pass Honky Tonk Man’s all time historic Intercontinental championship reign. He’d officially break the record on September 6th.”

Speaking in a recent interview with Steve Fall on Ten Count, the Ring General spoke about his plans for SummerSlam, explaining why he doesn’t want to work toward a match with newly-crowned World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins. However, he doesn’t rule out a bout between the two in the future.

“If I’m still the Intercontinental Champion, which I’m planning to be, I do not think so actually. The new World Heavyweight Championship just got introduced, so I think there is no interest by anyone to merge that again with another title, which [a match between the two] kind of automatically would do. I think we’re in two different divisions right now when it comes to that, but down the line, everything is possible, I would say.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Gunther praised Kevin Owens for his physicality and spoke about the in-ring chemistry between the two.
