Goldberg Says Wardlow Comparisons Are “An Honour”
Goldberg has said that it’s an “honour and a privilege” that Wardlow is being compared to him.
One of the most popular stars in AEW in 2022 is the man mountain known as Wardlow. The star has broken free from MJF and claimed the TNT Championship on July 6th.
In the process Mr Mayhem has demolished just about everyone who has stepped into the ring with him, all the time being roared on by a passionate fanbase.
Wardlow’s rise comes 25 years after a new star was making his way in WCW, running straight through everyone he came into contact with to the delight of those in the stands. That man was Goldberg. AEW fans have even begun to chant Wardlow’s name as he enters the ring in the same way that WCW fans greeted the arrival of their hero two decades previously.
Speaking in a new interview with Graham “GSM” Matthews of Bleacher Report, the WWE Hall of Famer was asked about the comparisons.
“I understand the comparisons. I’ve heard of him for sure. I’ve seen pictures of him. I haven’t seen him work that much. But, hey, man, more power to him. There needs to be more characters like that. There needs to be serious intensity out there. There’s people that slice meat and there’s people that eat meat and he needs to be eating meat — now Big E is going to come into it.
But yeah, man , I don’t know. I’ve never read anything about a comparison from him and how he passes judgment on it. But at the end of the day, anybody that’s close to the top in their prospective business to be compared with myself. That’s an honor and a privilege,”
During a different interview, Goldberg recently revealed that he’s still under contract with WWE.
