Former WWE Star Signs With IMPACT Wrestling

A former WWE Superstar now has a new wrestling home after signing a deal with IMPACT Wrestling.

Fandango had been a part of the WWE developmental system since 2006, notably appearing as part of NXT as Johnny Curtis. It wasn’t until late 2012 that vignettes began airing showcasing the new ballroom dancing character that he was set to portray on the main roster.

Fandango made his main roster in-ring debut at WrestleMania 29 when he went one-on-one with Chris Jericho. In one of the biggest upsets in WrestleMania history, the dancing star defeated Jericho with ‘Fandango-ing’ sweeping the world, for a week or two at least.

That proved to be the highest-profile spot during his WWE career and he made his way back down the card and eventually settled into a popular tag team with Tyler Breeze. The two stars returned to NXT in 2020 and in August of that year, Breezango captured the NXT Tag Team Championship. The team held that title for two months and both men were released from their WWE deals in June 2021.

Since then Fandango has rebranded himself as Dirty Dango, appearing on the independent scene and in the NWA. Dango made his IMPACT Wrestling debut in October 2022 when he unsuccessfully challenged Brian Myers for the Digital Media Championship.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider has now reported that Dirty Dango has signed a deal with IMPACT Wrestling and the star was part of the recent New Year’s Revolution tapings.
