Former TNA Executive Makes Switch To AEW

AEW President Tony Khan

It looks like TNA’s loss is AEW’s gain as one former employee who left amid a round of cuts has begun working for Tony Khan’s promotion.

In early February, TNA fired the former president of the company Scott D’Amore in a move that shocked many in pro wrestling and led to an outpouring of support from many on the company’s roster. It later emerged Scott D’Amore had made a huge offer to buy TNA Wrestling from Anthem Entertainment but his advances were rejected.

There have been more backstage cuts in TNA as the month of May came to a close. PWInsider reported that Anthem management fired Dave Sahadi, who was the Creative Director of the promotion.

Sahadi had been with the Anthem version of IMPACT/TNA since 2019. He also worked for TNA for around 18 years before that and was a director of TNA broadcasts. Sahadi also was a Creative Director for WWE for several years prior to his TNA run.

RD Evans, who many people considered to be the Head of the Creative team, also left TNA but reports suggested he did so of his own volition. Relations between Evans and the company were said to have been “strained” in the weeks prior to his departure.

Ex-TNA Writer Begins Work For AEW

But RD Evans has not let the grass grow beneath his feet as Bryan Alvarez noted on Wrestling Observer Live that Evans began working for AEW at Collision on June 8th:

We have RD Evans who resigned from TNA now going to work for AEW. He was at Collision on Saturday, will be at Dynamite working on backstage segments. He’s done creative in WWE, TNA and AEW so best of luck to him.

The timing might be seen as interesting by some due to the ongoing relationship between WWE and TNA at the moment. Tony Khan refused to mention either company when asked about their cooperation that saw TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace challenge Roxanne Perez for the NXT Women’s Title.

Dynamite saw The Young Bucks make a huge challenge for Blood and Guts as tensions also rose between Will Ospreay and Swerve Strickland ahead of their showdown for the AEW World Championship at Forbidden Door.
