Former AEW World Champion Closing On Return
Former AEW World Champion Samoa Joe is set to make his long awaited return to the ring.
The 45 year-old year-old has been absent from AEW television since falling to defeat via referee stoppage in a Stadium Stampede bout against Chris Jericho on the 10th July edition of Dynamite.
The popular West Huntington Beach, California native departed the arena in an ambulance after a brutal bout with the legendary star, which concluded with Jericho placing his foe on a forklift truck and driving him through a wall.
The loss came at the end of a landmark few months with the company for the veteran star who enjoyed a 113 day reign as AEW World Champion before dropping the title to Swerve Strickland at AEW Dynasty on 21st April.
Samoa Joe was written off television after his bout with Jericho at Calgary’s Scotiabank Saddledome to allow him to focus on filming the second series of popular Peacock show ‘Twisted Metal’.
Dave Meltzer confirmed that filming had now concluded on a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, revealing that Samoa Joe was now free for a return to AEW action.
